Before: This home features red oak flooring finished with a commonly used, high gloss, amber polyurethane, giving the floor a thick, plastic-like appearance.

After: This floor was refinished with a sealer, followed by a satin sheen, crystal clear floor finish. The use of a sealer brings out the natural color of the red oak. Combined with the clear, non-ambering finish, the natural beauty of the wood is preserved. Additionally, the satin sheen reflects less light, eliminating the thick appearance of a high-gloss finish.

Before: This home features red oak flooring and stairs finished with the commonly used amber polyurethane, as well as a study with a walnut border and a kitchen and eat-in area with tile floors.

After: New red oak flooring was installed in the kitchen and eat-in areas. The floors were stained a mid-tone brown color to complement the dark millwork. The stairs were stained a dark brown to tie them together with the color of the trim and doors. A satin sheen, clear polyurethane was applied to the floors and stairs to preserve the color and prevent ambering.
